Stop Using CardLadder

Do you want to ride a horse to work or a rocket ship?

You should NEVER use CardLadder, MarketMovers, or Terapeak again, imo.

And I’m not here to sell you an alternative.

I’m not creating a product to compete with them.

But I buy and sell cards every day.

CardLadder is now as outdated as a Beckett magazine.

Just my opinion.

AI was already a quicker, easier way to look up cards.

Period.

Now we’ve hit a breakthrough!

You’ll notice most eBay listings have a “See Insights” link now.

It essentially gives you the same price data CL, Terapeak, etc. give you.

I was already having AI use it as a source for comps.

But… we kept grinding and it reverse engineered the links, and now we can batch large quantities of comps together.

This morning it comped 184 cards in 18 seconds.

Meaning you could probably get a comp for every card ending today on eBay in under half an hour.

The tokens it used were minimal — which means you could comp maybe millions of cards on a max Anthropic plan.

With those comps you could create your own (internal) price guide and FURTHER reduce your costs going forward.

Not sure what I’ll do yet, but this opens up several things:

1. I can capture more of the market — maybe comp every card from the sellers I like buying from, creating many more buying opportunities.

2. In the last two months I’ve been able to dip my toe into the Pokémon market, confident the AI is giving me accurate comps. Some days I buy more Pokémon than sports cards.

I think I’ve now repeated this 5 times in these posts over the last few months.

If you’re a sports card dealer — part time, full time, any amount of time —

Stop what you’re doing.

I use Anthropic, but Google’s Gemini and ChatGPT can probably all do the same thing.

Maybe even better.

Pick one. Start using it.

HAVE PATIENCE.

Start small.

Come back to it day after day.

Challenge it to become more efficient.

It will change your life.
